From the start of the current SARS-Covid-19 health crisis, we have been working in collaboration with the authorities and our partners to ensure our compliance with official safety and security instructions.
In accordance with the decree of 9th March 2020, imposing a ban on gatherings of more than 1,000 people, in the purest spirit of the festival and supported by artists, local authorities and establishments in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley, we immediately worked to resize the stages and redistribute them to different sites in the valley.
Our goal was to maintain the event for all current ticket holders who bought a ticket up to 9th March, closing the ticket office from 9th March to preserve this.
Yesterday evening, the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron announced new measures to limit gatherings, without going into specific detail on what those limits would be. Today, Friday 13th March at 1:00 p.m, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced the ban on all gatherings of more than 100 people.
It is with our great sadness that due to these new limits we will not be able to continue with 2020’s edition of The Unlimited Festival.
The festival is managed by a small team and is the culmination of work from a handful of enthusiasts supported by their Chamonix partners. The festival had planned every scenario to overcome the various usual causes of cancellation, including guaranteed back-up venues for each outdoor site to combat the fast changing climates that occur in the extreme Chamonix environment.
However, there was nothing to prepare us for this global pandemic, explaining the lack of specific insurance for this cause of cancellation, which in any event constitutes force majeure.
Given the investments already made and the short timeframe before the start of the festival, it is with regret that we inform you that the festival is not able to offer a refund for Passes and Single Tickets 2020.
We are fully aware of the economic consequences that this cancellation entails for each of you and express our deepest regret.
People with a hotel reservation at La Folie Douce Hotel can still however take advantage of their reservation on the scheduled dates or have the option to postpone it within 3 months of the festival dates. It is mandatory to confirm your booking by email before March 30th at [email protected]
People who’ve booked a Ski Sauvage session will be contacted by email in the next days and refunded by Black Crows Skis.
We will advise in the next days about the ski passes, depending on the official restrictions.
